Published by Fredereick Warne & Co., London; 1897. 8vo. With 26 illustrations by Reginald Birch. This is an early UK edition of one of this author’s most famous novels. It was made into a film starring Freddy Bartholomew due to its continued popularity in the 20th century. Bound in blue cloth with illustrations to the front board and spine, this classic childrens book is in Very Good condition. There is bumping to the top and bottom of the spine and to the board corners. There is some minor marking to both the front and rear boards (see photos), and a little sun fading to the spine. Inside there is a gift inscription to the front free endpaper dated 1898. The pages are predominantly clean with just the smallest amount of ageing and spotting to some pages. The illustrations are all present and the book is still tightly bound and publishers adverts are found at the back of the book. In all this is a very nice copy of this ever popular children’s classic by the author of ‘The Secret Garden’.
