Set of Three Deluxe editions from the Middle Earth world of J. R. R. Tolkien, including Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and Poems and Stories:

Poems and Stories -
Published by George Allen and Unwin, London; 1980. 8vo. Fine. This beautiful copy of the First Deluxe edition of this collection of popular middle earth tales, including ‘The Adventures of Tom Bombadil’ and ‘Farmer Giles of Ham’ is in Fine condition. It is bound in it’s original black cloth with gilt decorative illustration to the front cover and with gold gilt lettering and detail to the spine. Inside, it is illustrated by Pauline Baynes and the pages are clean and bright and free from any damage or marks. The book comes wrapped in tissue paper and stored in its original slipcase, which is also in Fine condition, with the printed title label to the front of the box. In all, this is an exceptional, and very collectible, example of this collection of classic tales by this ever popular author.

Lord of the Rings -
Published by George Allen and Unwin, London; 1979. First India Paper Deluxe Edition, 7th impression of the cult classic, Lord of the Rings. This beautiful book is in Fine condition, tightly bound in it's original publisher's black cloth boards, with Tolkien's illustration of the Numenorean throne with "Elendil" in Tengwar in gilt to the centre of the front board and gilt lettering and detail to the spine. Inside, printed on the thin, dense India Paper that is often used for bibles, the pages are clean and bright and blemish free, with the blue speckles to the paper ends. The book comes with all three maps, of which two are folding and all are complete, unmarked and entirely intact. This exceptional copy of this edition is housed in a slipcase, which is also in Fine condition, free from marks and with no damage to speak of. In all,  it is an exceptional example of the deluxe edition first printing of the ever-popular classic trilogy by Tolkien, which is popular across generations and would be the perfect addition to any Tolkien collection, or the ideal gift for any Tolkien fan.

The Hobbit or There and Back Again -
Published by George Allen and Unwin, London; 1979. First Deluxe Edition, second impression of the ever-popular classic tale, The Hobbit, or There and Back Again. This lovely book is in exceptional condition, beautifully bound in original black cloth with gilt design to the front board and gilt lettering to the spine. There is the slightest rubbing to the boards, but apart from this the book is tightly bound and inside the pages are clean and bright and beautifully illustrated, with all illustrations still present and appearing unread and as new. The book is housed in its original slipcase, which apart from some very minor bumping to the edges, is in excellent condition as well. In all, this is as near perfect a copy of the deluxe edition as any I have seen and would be the perfect addition to any Tolkien collection.

Overall, these three books are an exceptional collector’s set and as a whole are a very rare find indeed, with all books in Fine condition and free from damage and virtually as new! They would most certainly be an investment for the future and would compliment any rare book collection!
