Published by Frederick Warne & Co Ltd, London; 1926. This lovely little book is the First edition under this title. It was originally published in 1908 as The Roly Poly Pudding in large format, but in 1926 Frederick Warne & co. decided to publish it in a small format more consistent with the rest of the series and, at this point, changed the name to The Tale of Samuel Whiskers. This first edition is consistent with all points according to Quinby and Linder. It is in Very Good condition. Bound in original red boards, with title to the front board and spine in white and illustration to the front board. Internally, the pages are clean and bright and free from damage or marks. There is alot of sunning to the spine and alot of the white has worn from the title to the spine, although it is still readable. There is some mild rubbing to the boards and some minor bumping to the board corners and chipping to the bottom of the spine. Inside, some slight cracking to the spine is evident and there is just the odd age spot, although remarkably few for a book of this age. Indeed, overall this is a very nice copy of this children’s tale from the much loved author Beatrix Potter and would be a lovely addition to any book collection.
