The Master & Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov

Published by Collins, London; 1967. 8vo. Near Fine/Good. Tightly bound in it’s original green boards with gilt lettering to the spine, this book is in Near Fine condition. There is bumping to the corners and spine ends and some sunning and rubbing to the edges. Apart from this, the boards are clean and free from damage or marks. Inside, the pages are clean and bright and free from blemishes. There is a neat ownership inscription on the front free endpaper and some slight staining to the extreme edges, only visible when the book is closed. These are the only flaws to speak of in an otherwise Fine book. The jacket has some bumping and chipping to the edges, with a closed tear measuring about an inch and a half to the top corner of the front panel. There is no loss to the jacket or title from this however. There is another tear to the middle bottom of the front panel, with very slight loss, measuring about half an inch in length. There are a few further chips and tears to the rear panel as well with some slight loss to the bottom of the spine. Please see photos for further details on this damage. There are also a couple of marks and some slight rubbing to the rear panel, but it is not price clipped and still shows the original price of 30s. net.. Overall, this is a nice copy of this modern first edition and, inspite of some unfortunate wear to the jacket, the book remains in very nice, bright condition and is still a very collectible copy of the works that is reputedly Bulgakov’s masterpiece.
