Published by Secker & Warburg, London; 1974. 8vo. Fine/Very Good. This first edition copy of Tom Sharpe’s third novel is in Fine condition. It is tightly bound in it’s original red boards with gilt lettering to the spine. There is some minor bumping to the spine ends and board corners, but otherwise the boards are clean, sound and free from marks or damage. Internally, the pages are bright and blemish-free, with no signs of ageing or damage to speak of. The dust jacket is in Very Good condition. There is bumping and chipping to the spine ends and the corners and edges of the wraparound. There is some minor toning to the flaps. There are a couple of closed tears the the top edge of the rear panel, one just a few mm in length and the other approximately 2 cm. There is also a closed tear to the bottom left corner of the front panel, measuring about 3 cm in length. Apart from these issues, the jacket is actually in very respectable condition, free from marks and still bright. In all, this is a very nice copy of this modern First edition and would be an excellent addition to any collection.
