Published by Secker & Warburg, London; 1954. 8vo. Fine/Very Good+. This First edition copy of this classic piece of modern literature is in Fine condition. Translated from French by Xan Fielding is the second impression, with the front free endpaper present. Tightly bound in it’s original green boards, with gilt lettering to the spine, there is some minor bumping to the corners and spine ends and the slightest hint of sunning to the edges, but otherwise the binding is free form marks and damage. Inside, the pages are clean and bright and free from blemishes or ageing. There is an ownership label affixed to the front free endpaper, but this is the only issue to speak of internally as this book is in lovely condition. The dust jacket is clean and mark-free. There is some bumping corresponding to that of the book and a crease and a small tear to the front top edge, measuring just over 1cm in length. There is some slight chipping to the spine ends and very minor rubbing to the rear panel, but the jacket is actually much better than this sounds, and it is in very nice condition indeed. Overall, this is a lovely and very collectible copy of this classic masterpiece by Pierre Boulle.
